North Sea – South Seas

The Bergen Pacific Studies group maintains a continuous two-way academic exchange with the Centre for Pacific Studies of the University of St Andrews, in Scotland right across the North Sea from Bergen. Under the playful banner “North Sea, South Seas”, these two groups have in the spirit of friendship and shared interest agreed to meet annually for an intensive two-day seminar, in which senior members and research students from both sides present ongoing research and larger Pacific issues of academic and political nature are discussed.

The inaugural “North Sea, South Seas” meeting took place at St Andrews in 2008, and was followed by a second meeting in Bergen in 2009. See Conferences and Events for more information.
